Storm Damages Building - Symbol of Our History is Gone

TMH Endures Damage Following Windstorm, Establishes Restoration Fund for Building Preservation

On March 2, 2018, TMH endured a powerful windstorm with near-hurricane-strength winds sustained over a 24 hour period. During that storm, the privacy wall that bordered our back garden came down, leaving a 60-foot gap. This destruction reminds us how fragile an historic building can be. Looking to securing the future of TMH for decades to come, the Board of Trustees established the TMH Restoration Fund to ensure we have the resources we need in the future.

Donations to this fund can support a variety of items, including, but not limited to, rebuilding the wall, repairing the HVAC system damaged by the wall, replacing furniture in the resident rooms, renovating bathrooms or updating furniture in the dining hall.

Our goal is to keep TMH affordable, but we need your help to do that.

For the past 131 years, young women from all over the United States and more than 25 countries have called TMH home. There is no question that it is a special place, filled with memories, laughter and friendship. Our goal is to continue to provide a safe, affordable home for young women moving to Washington, DC for decades to come. To do that, we must ensure that we have the resources necessary to maintain our building and grounds. Please donate today.

Individuals who donate $250 or more to the TMH Restoration Fund will receive a souvenir brick. Donations of $1,000 or more will be recognized on a plaque to be unveiled with the restoration of our wall.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.
